Summer Pre-College

We provide rising high school seniors with a transformative pre-college program, allowing them to experience life on a college campus and engage in college-level coursework for two weeks. Many of the students we support are unsure about whether they can handle college, and most have never been away from home for an extended period. This experience builds confidence but also forges meaningful connections beyond their existing social circles. Additionally, participants earn three college credits, giving them a valuable head start on their educational journey.

College Admissions
Counseling

We bring college admissions consulting, often only available to students with significant financial means, to JLS Foundation scholars. Through our partnership with Collegewise, students receive support on how to find the best college for them, how to secure the most financial aid, how to write a compelling college essay and other areas critical to enrollment.

No-cost
Tutoring

No-cost Tutoring

First-generation college students face significant challenges in higher education, leading to higher dropout rates compared to their peers. Nearly 30% of first-generation students do not complete their college education. We work with the colleges that JLS Scholars enroll at to ensure those schools provide no-cost tutoring. If they don't, we cover the cost of having upper-class students, ideally First-Generation students as well, to tutor our scholars. This provides both an edge in the classroom as well as offers our scholars an upper-class contact who can help guide them.

Corporate
Coalition

Corporate Coalition

We are building a coalition of corporate partners that will open doors for our students when it comes to internships and full-time jobs. We’ll work closely with the students and the HR departments at our corporate partners to facilitate the interview process for our students. We’re also developing programs where our corporate partners can help prepare students for interviews with tips on everything from how to prepare for interviews, what they should wear and questions they should ask.
