First-generation college students face significant challenges in higher education, leading to higher dropout rates compared to their peers. Nearly 30% of first-generation students do not complete their college education. We work with the colleges that JLS Scholars enroll at to ensure those schools provide no-cost tutoring. If they don't, we cover the cost of having upper-class students, ideally First-Generation students as well, tutor our scholars. This provides both an edge in the classroom as well as offers our scholars an upper-class contact who can help guide them.
